Brand spotlight: Taylor Blake
Welcome to the first of our brand spotlights – a chance for you to get to know the people behind some of the gorgeous labels housed here at Weave! This month, we sat down with Tracey Taylor, one half of independent British shoe brand, Taylor Blake.
Tell us a bit more about Taylor Blake
We’re an independent British label designing and producing gorgeous ballet pumps! Affordable yet luxurious, all of our shoes are handcrafted – from the initial sketch to sourcing fabulous materials to the final packaging, every customer gets something completely truly special.
How did you get started?
I’ve been friends with my business partner Emily for about 18 years! We both had young children, our lifestyles had changed, and our careers needed to reflect that. Emily is a fantastic shoe designer whose whole career has been in the shoe industry working for big brands, but when she showed me some of the Taylor Blake designs she’d been sketching over a coffee one day and I knew I had to get on board. The rest is history and in June 2015 we were open for business!
What makes Taylor Blake so special?
It was really important to us that each shoe was made with quality craftsmanship. All our ballet pumps are made by a family-run business in Spain. Their attention to detail is unparalleled and is probably why they’ve been manufacturing for more than 20 years.
Talk us through your latest collection
The first collection, Capture, was very much inspired by the natural world. There’s lots of gorgeous emerald greens, lush pink suede, and mock snakeskin detail on the toe or the whole shoe. Our second collection is called Kaleidoscope and is all about colour! Royal purples, golds and reds, as well as the ‘Gold Lora’ which is our all-gold shoe.
What’s your favourite piece?
I know I have to say this but it’s tough to pick just one! The Tokara (a red and gold number) is great for wearing with navy stripes for a Parisian vibe, but I love the Gold Lora with a classic pair of white jeans!
See you at Weave soon!
